If the Palace had its way, it would want Robredo to just go with the flow and stay silent on how Duterte wanted to deal with the drug problem in the country.
Presidential Spokesperson Ernie Abella said that Robredo was entitled to her opinion but it would have been better if she remained a team player.
“I think that’s precisely the reason why. Maybe in the next round of ano, of political systems, we should have teams, you know, where people understand. We should have teams, the president and the vice-president should have the same perspective,” said Abella in a briefing Friday.
“In other words, dapat magkaintindihan para hindi naman lumalabas na nagkakaroon tayo ng conflict. Sana magkaisa tayo ng pananaw na ginagawa ng Presidente is ipasantabi itong mga bagay na nakakasama sa bayan. ‘Yun po ang perspective ng Presidente,” he added.
On Thursday, Robredo warned against the creeping return of the culture of impunity which the Philippines erased 31 years ago. She urged the public to express outrage against against the seeming bloodlust of the police in carrying out Duterte’s war on drugs.
Last December, Robredo was unceremoniously eased out of her post as Housing czar for criticizing Duterte’s decision to allow a hero’s burial for the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
