Another heartbreaking, but inspiring story of two soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Marawi City went viral on the internet.
The story of Captain Rommel “Daredevil” Sandoval who’s the commander of 11th Scout Ranger Company and Private First Class Sherwin Canapi on how they sacrificed their own lives just to save their wounded comrade during the battle in Marawi touched many Netizens on Facebook.
Facebook fan page Scout Ranger Books, first published the story of Capt Sandoval and Pfc Canapi on social media, telling their followers how these two scout rangers saved their comrade, Corporal Jayson Mante who’s wounded after he got hit by five bullets and grenade explosion came from the Maute Terrorist Group.

The battle happened on September 10, 2017, the group of Captain Sandoval planned to save their wounded comrade who got left in a building where the Maute Terrorist Group attacked.
Sandoval, who’s the commander of their company, decided to save his comrade together with only one companion and he only asked his remaining men to cover them with fire.
“I cover fire niyo ako!” Capt. Sandoval said before he started his mission together with Pfc Canapi.
They successfully reached the location of Corporal Mante and they confirmed that he’s still alive, however several Maute terrorists saw their location and started to wait for the right timing to finish the brave soldiers.
